For those of you who have a ministry of intercession and are a "prayer warrior", I found this book to be very convicting, somewhat like an "ouch" sermon (you know what I mean), I was challenged to think of hindrances to answers to prayer that I hadn't really given much thought to. Very alerting to the strongholds, our own and the ones that others deal with that we pray through, that we deal with when entering seasons of prolonged and importune prayer, are in all areas that we find our selves in spiritual battle with. I thought this was an excellent book for even seasoned intercessors; a great book for those who feel the call and need to know how to pray with more discernment and power, and need breakthrough in areas that have previously seemed impenetrable. Really would recommend anything from this author.Product details

Originally written in the late 80's, this book has not lost its relevance! (It has also been updated twice!) This is one of the best books I've read on the subject of spiritual warfare. Francis Frangipane strikes at the core of three main arenas of battle. I've read it four times and am presently teaching it at our church. This is a manual that will get you ready for the approaching end-time events. For serious believers who are called into God's Army!
It is difficult to find fault with The Three Battlegrounds by Francis Frangipane. "Part One The Battleground of the Mind" is, in some ways, a quick read because he covers easily recognized aspects of the human personality. Frangipane's insight into spiritual strongholds is both sweeping and detailed. I found his teaching on agreeing with the enemy especially helpful when feeling condemned or overwhelmed by sin, instead of resorting to denial, agree with the enemy's accusations and confess sin and place it under the blood of Jesus.
"Part Two The Battleground of the Church" opens with a deeper understanding of Jesus, and at this point the book becomes challenging. Frangipane writes, "we need to see Him as He will be revealed in the last moments of this age a Holy Warrior, dressed for battle." Unity in Jesus is the goal. Then Frangipane identifies problems that create vulnerable churches, starting with personal love that grows cold. My only comment here is, Wow. I also want to mention the one-liners that could become annoying but don't because they repeatedly hit their target. Such as, "Bitterness is unfulfilled revenge." Or, "You do not need skill to find fault." Or, "God is not looking for leaders but followers of the Lord Jesus Christ."
Part Three "The Battleground of the Heavenly Places" enters into the realm of changing society, and at this point my pace slowed considerably. We learn society is shaped for good or for evil by its collective concept of reality. And just like that, we're back to the mind and its strongholds. Frangipane briefly mentions the difficulty of understanding confrontation between spirit beings that cannot die from wounds. Intriguing, isn't it? Then he asks, "Who will control reality on earth, heaven or hell?"
By the time I worked my way through the conclusion to that question, I was satiated. But there was more a focus on specific spiritual powers and their strategies--and on how Christians can effectively stand against them. Using Biblical references he identifies some he feels are especially active at this time in history. And he looks at how we allow God to change mindsets. I've read other books on spiritual warfare. This is among the best.
I read the original version nearly twenty years ago was really spiritually awakened. I ordered the "Revised Edition" recently and find it motivating but not as hard-hitting as the original. The revised version uses too much coddling-type language and clichés that soften the intent of the book
I found this book on my shelves as I was moving into a period of renewal of faith and growth in Christ. I've read the first two sections and see them as vital areas of my own spiritual growth.
The first addresses the Enemy's targeting of our minds to make us doubt, dis-believe, needlessly worry and otherwise place our knowledge on other than the truth of the Word of God in Christ. This area of growth makes perfect sense to me, and I see the places where my mind is not attuned to the words of Jesus.
The second battleground has to do with Christ-like love, pointing to the judgmental attitudes that believers can hold on to when appraising others. We must release judgment to love them. Just as we are forgiven, so we must forgive - that principle of God's will not be excepted. Otherwise, our "love" grows cold and bitter as resentments and judgments take hold. I find this a huge area of challenge in my own life and see God's Word teaching me hard but deep and good lessons.
If you are serious about growth as a believer in Christ, this book is right on the money, and is written in the true spirit, the Holy Spirit. Blessings.
